This year I have lost 3 baby goats because of extreme weather and first time moms just learning the ropes for nursing their kids. Which is really hard when I know I could have done better at keeping an eye on them. Especially when I only have 8 adult goats and now have 4 kids on my farm. I think the lesson to be learned is that when we are attentive to our stewardships it is a lot easier to forgive ourselves of little mistakes like these that are heart wrenching. I believe they give us a better appreciation of what we have, and help us to do better with the things we receive.
I also believe that when we have such escape artists like these goats its is easy to be one step behind them in their escapades. They are just like my Dad says "They spend 23 hours a day planning their escape and 1 hour executing." But my intention is not to scare people away from getting goats on the contrary I love my goats and and are sometimes laughing and sometimes crying when my goats continually escape from holes I haven't barricaded enough. But they make it all worth it when those baby goats come with their bouncy and frolicking ways. they
continually amaze me when they are finding places to climb and jump off of.
